You may have seen Jason on various news, TV and media channels during lockdown. Jason along with Andrew are the creators of what is now a viral thread all around the world for their work in trying to bring smiles to Stockport during the first and second lockdown when Covid19 struck in 2020. Jason ran during the first lockdown all around Stockport dressed as Spider-Man. It was then picked up by the Manchester Evening News and the rest is then history. Featuring live in an interview on This Morning with Phil & Holly it then catapulted The Stockport Spider-Mens adventures in to the National news. A quick look on our press tab will show you how far everything travelled. Jason would use his hourly exercise time to 'patrol' the streets of Stockport to make as many people smile as he possibly could, usually running between 5-15 miles each time. When appearing on This Morning Jason requested anyone who was going out for their daily exercise to do the same, dress up and bring some smiles. From there a Facebook group was created which seen massive following from day one. It wasn't much longer after, after 2 weeks in that people started sending messages from Jason's request and from there The Stockport Spider-Men & Friends were born. Jason created a justgiving page in agreement with Andrew for their chosen charity The National Health service NHS. A target of £5000 was set and within a couple of days again after being aired on This Morning and then featured in The Times Newspaper and anonymous donation of £25,000 was made! The person left a cryptic clue and said it had encouraged them to wear their Spidey suit again....everyone was guessing, could it be Tom Holland? Along with a growing fan base and the public getting highly involved in the cause Jason decided to appeal once more and request any unused items to then auction off in the Facebook group, little did he know that this would take up three hours each and every Saturday and then time delivering the prizes the following week but it was all worth it and thousands of pounds was raised. The target was moved to £50,000 and it was game on to reach it before the end of the first lockdown. On the final auction is was reached, in fact with gift aid over £60,000 was donated to the NHS fund. In-between all of this Jason appealed to various food outlets to create HAPPY BOXES. A box of treats for keyworkers in Stockport as a little smile in a box to say thank you for their work during the pandemic. Over 100 boxes were socially distanced hand delivered by Jason as Spidey to the likes of The Stockport ambulance services, Bus depot, Doctors, Hospitals, Nursing homes, schools, Day care centres plus many others.
